I am on a real home improvements drive at the moment. Occasionally I get the "house moving itch" and I've got it really, REALLY badly at the moment. I can think of nothing but buying the house we want/ed at the moment and it's really been getting me down. So I've decided to focus less on that and more on the house we currently live in. My evil house-wifey plans at the moment include the living room and the front of the house. I have made up a virtual mood board for my living room, including new sofa's, new Oak furniture, new fireplace, new carpet, new rug, new curtains, new dining table (which we've already got on order), new dining chairs, new paint on most of the walls with one feature wall with wallpaper. Oh and then accessories like some art, a large mirror etc.
Outside the front of the house I want block paving where we've currently got slate chipping stuff... I want to cut down the hedges along the side of the house and block pave there too, to make our driveway a bit bigger so I can put a storage thing there for the kids bikes instead of just having them heaped up outside the house.
I haven't mentioned my plans for the back garden yet as I know Hubby will go mad having just bought a load of artificial grass... But actually I want to patio over a large proportion of the garden so I can put a hot tub at the end, and still have space for a big garden table and BBQ/patio heater etc... I just want to have a small area of artificial grass/turf in the middle. But I'm not going to mention the back garden thing until I've got the living room and front garden done...
I've made a list for order of completion of DIY projects on the house (yeah, I'm really anal about this stuff);
Living room/dining area
Front/Side of house
Back garden
Hallways
Main bedroom
Bathrooms
Boys bedroom
Girls bedroom
Baby's bedroom
Kitchen
Garage
Next week I'm going to go and order the new sofa's and hopefully pick up the new dining table. I might also pick the paint colour for the rest of the living room and get started on that before we do the wall papering... I've been procrastinating for the past few weeks now and I really need to get off my bum and do something!
We did quite well a few weeks ago as we did a car boot sale and got rid of a load of large items. I spent yesterday bagging up yet more clothes to go but we aren't sure where to get rid of them as I don't fancy doing a car boot with them and then coming home with a load that we couldn't get rid of, so I'm tempted to just take them down the charity shop.
Now... Do I get someone in to do the wallpapering and the block paving, or do I do it myself?
